Judy Nee is the CEO of AlphaBEST Education. With over 20 years’ experience in the afterschool field, Judy, recently recognized as ONE OF THE TOP 25 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN AFTERSCHOOL, served as President and CEO of the National AfterSchool Association, where she was considered a leading expert in after school and expanded learning programs. In addition, she served as the Chair of the Coalition for Science After School, a consultant to the Noyce Foundation, and a Board Member of the Florida Afterschool Network and Child Trends. Judy brings to AlphaBEST Education the most recent research and best practices in afterschool programming, as well as relationships with leading experts and organizations in the field.
Melissa Harper is the CFO/COO at AlphaBEST Education. Melissa is responsible for AlphaBEST’s corporate operations, finance, human resources and multi-media. She is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the education industry, working as Controller for a national distributor of educational resources, furniture, and supplies. She also has overseen the development and management of 60+ quality early learning facilities, i.e. Head Start and Corporate Child Care Centers. Melissa has been part of the AlphaBEST leadership team since 2005 and has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Denise DeBaugh is AlphaBEST’s Western U.S. Director of Operations. Denise is responsible for overseeing 100 AlphaBEST Extended Day afterschool programs in the Western region, Summer programs in Texas and tutoring programs. Denise has 20 years of experience in afterschool work along with 7 years teaching experience in elementary education. Denise also holds a Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelors of Science in Education from Oklahoma Baptist University.
Heather Alfonso is AlphaBEST’s Eastern U.S. Director of Operations. Heather is responsible for overseeing 155 AlphaBEST Education Extended Day programs in the Eastern region, Summer programs in Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia, and West Virginia and tutoring programs. She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Lynn University. She is certified in Elementary Education (grades Kindergarten through sixth grade), Exceptional Student Education, ESOL and holds a Reading Endorsement. She began her career as the Director of one of the largest school based afterschool programs in Florida with 450 students. Following a 7-year career as an afterschool Director and earning her BA degree in Education, she went on to teach elementary school and serve as an Assistant Principal.
