COVID-19 and School District Decisions

Dear AlphaBEST Families,

These are trying times and school districts have very difficult decisions to make about bringing students back into their buildings.  The plans seem to change every week, based on new data and community input.  AlphaBEST has adopted the word F-L-E-X-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y as our guiding principle during this time.

While your school may be starting the year with a fully virtual or a hybrid learning plan, please know that we are in regular contact with them about parents' need for childcare and facilitation of remote learning responsibilities. We are working with our district partners on accessing space in the schools to fill this need and, in some cases, are looking outside of schools for temporary space to provide our AlphaAcademy, a full-day program that includes enrichment, fitness, facilitation of virtual learning, and much needed social connection to your child’s peers. (safely, of course!)

Our COVID-19 health, safety, and cleaning protocols align with all CDC and local licensing guidelines and are in place to ensure your child's safety and wellbeing. For more details on these protocols, please Click Here.

We look forward to the day when things return to normal and we can interact with our families once again.

Stay safe!

Dear AlphaBEST Families:

As we get closer to back-to-school, in whatever form that may take in your school district, we look forward to providing a safe before-and-after school program for you.  We remain in close contact with our school district partners about the use of school buildings, capacities, and the potential to add summer programs. Circumstances seem to change almost weekly, but we want you to know that we are keeping up with the change and will be ready to jump in as soon as we get the green light.

As we prepare for the fall, and in the summer programs we are currently running, we are following guidelines put forth by the CDC, local, and state agencies. As guidelines change, so will we.

Here is what you can expect in our programs as of today:

    • Temperature checks are taken daily.  Any student or staff with 100.4 or higher will not be permitted in the program.
    • Our staff will all wear masks indoors, and outdoors if not socially distanced.  Students may wear masks but it is not required.
    • Items brought from home are kept in individual, separate bins.
    • Supplies will not be shared.  Individual student supplies will be bagged and labeled.
    • Parent check-in will be at the door.  Visitors and vendors will not be allowed in our assigned area.
    • Continual sanitizing of surfaces will take place during the day, including door handles, tables, keypads, doorbells, etc.
    • Frequent handwashing and hand sanitizing throughout your child's stay
    • Program activities have been modified.  Historically, AlphaBEST activities are designed with a group dynamic in mind.  We are modifying all activities to encourage collaboration with social-distancing of at least 6 feet.

Look for new innovations from AlphaBEST Education:

Coming soon: Going Places Summer @Home Edition!  Based on the book by Peter and Paul Reynolds, Going Places @Home Edition is a free resource with fun activities to keep your child engaged through creative-problem solving, fun activities that they can do at home.

Parent Nights:  We are working on virtual Parent Nights and will be sharing more with you in the near future.

In closing:

Like all of you, we look forward to the day when everything is back to normal.  In the meantime, please count on AlphaBEST as your trusted partner to ensure your children are happy, engaged, cared for, and safe.

Sincerely,

Judy Nee, CEO

Dear AlphaBEST Families:

We continue to stay in close contact with our school district partners with regard to whether or not school will reopen this year. Some districts have already made the decision to not reopen while others are still considering. If your school district has closed for the year, AlphaBEST will not be returning to provide after school programming.

Many families are asking about the availability of our summer programs. We remain hopeful that we will be able to provide summer camps at many of our school sites. We have reached out to all of our district partners and are waiting on their final direction, based on current public health guidelines in each region.

We will be updating our region-specific registration web pages with summer and/or school closure information as updates become available.

Stay safe and be well!

Dear AlphaBEST Families:

As all of our school districts have now closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AlphaBEST programs will be closed for the immediate future, as well. Please know that we will not automatically bill for tuition while our program in your district is closed.

As this evolving situation continues to unfold, AlphaBEST will remain in close communication with our school and district partners. As we receive information, we will distribute updates regarding any ability for us to provide child care for your child(ren), should school districts remain closed for an extended period of time.  At this time, however, following federal guidelines about social distancing, we are unable to offer any regular care for our families and districts.

We apologize for the inconvenience this situation has caused and understand the impact on your daily lives. Our hope is that we can return to normalcy as soon as possible, but we must be cautious and support the district’s decision to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

Should you have any concerns or questions, we encourage you to contact our Customer Support Team at questions@alphabest.org.

Please stay safe and healthy!

Best regards,

Judy Nee, CEO
